Stop Motion in everyday

Where is Stop-Motion Used ?

Within recent years many companies and broadcasters have seen that Stop Motion is a clever and distinctive way to advertise and can be a cheap way to do so. I am going to display an Evian Advert which is very basic stop motion which is very catchy and was enjoyed by the public at the time. E4 and BBC have both used stop motion TV indents, i would say this is because its a quick concise way to do so, they can bring in the company label in very easily, e4 have done this effectively making everyday objects move by themselves to form the company logo. A you can see in this Evian advert its a very simple and effective way to advertise using a simple white backdrop. It engages the audience because you don't immediately know what this advert is about. Making you want to watch more.

Cadbury's teamed up with the Stop Motion company Aardman to produce this wacky creme egg advert which Cadburys have now gone on to use more. For those who like this product it will entice you in at the same time getting the brand across. I think this is an impressive advert as you can't immediately tell its stop motion because of the speed of the advert and the final finish, this is why Aardman are such a successful company.

I think companies have used it more because its confusing the audience and therefore there being drawn in to see how the egg is actually moving or the boat is moving in the following Nokia Advert which was filmed all on a camera phone. By drawing the audience in your brain washing them to an extent making them talk about your company and product.

Existing Stop Motion

Tic Tac 2012 Advert

This advert is very effective. Its very catchy and immediately brings the audience to there attention with the colours and music used. Its a very good way to advertise because the costs are small, but of course we know its a time consuming exercise and to make it work you need to make it as perfect as possible. They straight away get the recognisable tic tac box in there so we know what there advertising. The colours are also very bright and make you feel happy and jolly. I think this advert is successful and makes the audience want to try this product- to make them feel happy like the advert does.

NOKIA N8 " GULP "

This stop motion advert is unlike any other advert i can think of. Its unique and clever. Taking over a week to make. I think it shows how far technology has come that an advert of this skill can all be filmed on a camera phone. Previously this would of been un-thinkable. I personally think this advert is so great because of the way it makes you think, how did they make this ? The way the music comes in is also very engaging and catchy and makes you ultimately feel good. I think this is a common theme amongst many stop motion adverts of mainly wanting to engage with you in a unique way, and making you feel positive when watching the advert so this translates onto the advert itself.

Advertising

A Y

This video is an e-bay stop motion viral add, made with the main purpose of advertising e-bay and their services

In 2009, a YouTuber named Max Keily created an advert for eBay using stop motion animation. Although it took around 1000 frames, half the length of Oren Lavie's video, Keily says that it took him a good few months to produce from scratch. As with Oren's video, the animation is very smooth, and runs at around 40 frames per second.
The storyline emphasising the vast amount you can buy from ebay.. is people browsing eBay to find certain objects; the first character, a woman with nails painted the eBay colours, buys a signed tennis ball. The second character, a man with wristbands of the eBay colours, buys a t-shirt. Whenever something is bought, it appears from out of the 'monitor' and falls down in 3D. All of this is done by pen and paper - each frame individually drawn, even the old adverts needs to be redrawn in order to see the following advert when the person scrolls down.

TV shows

PINGU

Created by Otmar Gutmann , PINGU is a BAFTA winning stop motion
claymated television show. Running from 1986 - 2000 which was over 4 seasons. The show was set in the South Pole. Set around a family of penguins- with Pingu being the main character.

Evian advert

I think this advert is very effective purely because within seconds of it starting the music brings you in straight away. Wanting to know what this advert is about. The art of this advert is that its so simple and cheap to make. In an everyday photography studio, not trying to over complicate anything. Its also to a sense an interactive advert. You want to be part of this fun they seem to be having. I think the speed of the advert in correspondence with the music makes this advert so successful, becoming a viral Internet sensation. A very simple idea can sometimes be so effective.

Chanel Idents

Very few channel idents are stop motion, but the ones that dare to certainly capture the audiences imagination, hence why this example is still playing today. The example is of an ident made for the channel  E4 called 'Front Room'. Produced in 2006. Channel 4 and E4 have used stop motion on more than one occasion. Its impressive the amount they can fit in within 30 seconds and the skill to fit 30 frames per second. Its a skill.

Music Video

Inn 2009, Oren Lavie produced a music video to her song 'Her Morning Elegance'. Produced  in stop motion, 2096 individual frames made up the full 3 minutes of it. This converted, Oren Lavie's  music career into a flash hit. Gaining much recognition for this amazingly produced video. Gaining a massive  23,814,944 million views in December 2012. It is known as one of the greatest stop motion music videos.
